Both cable and DSL connection are significantly faster then dial-up modem connection. However, there is often debate over which is the faster of two.

Cable and DSL modem are typically external devices that connect to your computer’s ethernet port. However, a cable modem connects to cable wiring while a DSL modem connects to a phone jack. While these are significantly different connection, they both provide the same “always – on” Internet access for your computer. Both cable and DSL Internet connections have increased in speed over the last few years. As of early 2005, a typical cable connection supports speeds of 2 to 3 mbps, while a typical DSL connection supports speeds of 768 Kbps to 1.5 Mbps. This means cable modem usually have the capability to be faster than DSL modems.

However, a cable modem shares bandwidth with other computer in the area that also have cable Internet connections. If there are many people in your neighborhood that use the same cable service, it is likely your data transfer speeds will be reduced. DSL, on the other hand, is a direct line to the phone company, and therefore is not affected by other users. So DSL generally offers a more consistent speed.

This is the field in which there is a happy amalgation between biology and information. You will analyse the huge amount of genomic sequence information which has been generated through years of research.Your analysis will through light on the evloution of several species and mysteries of genetics. Bioinformatics is increasingly being utilised in pharmaceuticals, textiles, agricultural and biotech companies. This industry is growing by leaps and bounds in india and in several other places all over the world. As per the confederation of indian industry estimates, the bioinformatics industry across the world registered an estimated turnover of about $2 billion in 200 and is expected to grow at a more rapid scale by 2010.

The industry also promises more than one million profession jobs in the coming years. The propects of finding a job, with a professional course in bioinformatics under one’s belt are really immense.

Finger touch on a touchscreen is detected by technologies embedded in in the handset, and the location of touches within the display area acts as an input device like any keyboard or mouse, to interact with menu of the phones. Successfully infusing a man’s first sense of touch to a machine requires a lot of technologies to be applied , including resistive principle, surface acoustic wave technology, capacitive technology, strain gauge, optical imaging, dispersive signal technology, etc.

Resistive touch panel contains many layers sandwiched by thin space that act as a medium to pass on the touch sense. sharp objects can damage the layers which are otherwise water and dust resistant. surface acoustic wave technology’s ultrasonic wave help pass the touch sense.

Telecommunication devices for the deaf are widely known. These enable persons with no hearing to make or receive telephone calls. The device is attached to a telephone calls. The device is attached to a telephone and resembles a small keyboard with a screen to display the incoming or outgoing messages. Some TDDs have a paper printout to record a permanent copy of the conservation.

To use a TDD, the user types a message on the keyboard that is automatically converted into tones and transmitted over the phone line to another TDD , which converts the message back into text room. In this system, both the sender and the receiver of the message must have access to the technology.

Although these technologies are not typically used in the class room they enables student with disabilities to interact with each other outside of the school environment for both academic and social reasons, just their non-disabled peers do.

Electronic security for homes is fast catching up in India. With either the elderly or kids alone at home while you are away at work, it is essential for you to have proper surveillance system in place at home. A variety of security systems are available right from simple intrusion detector panels to intelligent remote monitoring systems. These include intruder alarm systems, auto dialers, doorphones, electronic looks, remote panic alarms and video surveillance systems.

Security systems can also be integrated with home automation features. Various residential builders are already offering home automation and security together as an add-on feature for their clients. If you are planning to install, you can choose between wired and wireless security systems. Both types can be further divided into user friendly and high end programmable systems. Here’s the way to go for an ideal security system for your home.

Home security systems can be centered around an alarm, a system of intercoms, locking systems or video cameras. Determine the needs of your home depending on the surrounding environment.

Intrusion alarm system. Alarms can be either silent or very loud. A loud alarm will either frighten the intruder away or alert the neighbours that someone is trying to invade your house. Alarms fitted into the door sound right at the point of entry. Others can be connected to a central control pad, which sounds if any point of entry is breached.

Generally an intrusion alarm systems has different sensors, magnetic contacts, hooters etc,.. linked to a control panel. An auto dialer with prerecorded message can also be integrated, which will automatically dial the fed numbers and leave emergency message. With this feature, if someone intrudes your home the security systems will call the police directly to inform them.

While selecting a warning alarm system, ensure that,
1. It doesn’t produce false alarm.
2. It has enough battery backup to meet unpredictable power conditions.
3. It is user friendly with minimal and easy controls.
4. If sensors like PIR are used, it must be EMI/RFI protected.
5. Magnetic sensors are easy to align.
6. The sound output is above 105dB at 1 metre.
